The School and Role
A ‘Good' specialist SEND provision in Sheffield are looking to appoint a Behavioural Support Worker to work full time with pupils in a pupil referral unit (PRU). This role will be based on a site in the Dinnington area. You will educate and support young individuals (KS1 – KS4) who have been excluded from mainstream schools. You will support vulnerable learners who are not in full time mainstream education through different learning activities and materials such as P.E based lessons and classroom-based activities.
The successful applicant will have had previous experience in dealing with challenging behaviours and social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will engage on a 1:1 as well as group-based environment alongside a qualified teacher in a classroom setting with pupils who may have ODD, ADHA, EBD and Dyslexia. The role will be based with young people in KS1 - KS4 and some pupils may have substance missus and involvement with social care. This role is perfect if you are looking to make a positive change in a young person’s life and build on your experience, skills and knowledge with children who have addition educational needs.
Requirements
The desired Behavioural Support Worker will have:
- Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children
- Experience of working with pupils with SEND
- A passion for the progress of SEND primary and secondary school pupils.
- An ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience working with behaviours that challenge.
- Must have basic Maths and English function skill set.
- Team Teach Level 2 trained desired, or willingness to undertake the course free of charge through us!
- Must have a driving licence, car and business insurance.
