A Special School in Leeds is seeking long-term and full-time behaviour support staff to join their team.
About the role
The responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Worker at this school are as follows: supporting the class teacher to deliver work in accordance with the national curriculum, supporting the class teacher to manage behaviour, supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis, contributing to record keeping, liaising with parents and multidisciplinary teams.
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be providing support and building relationships with the pupils at the school by helping them to develop a new attitude towards education in a safe and friendly environment. You will aim to encourage and enthuse the pupils to participate in all school activities to their best abilities so they can build a new relationship with education and learn effectively.
About the school
The school is a 34 place provision for pupils aged between 5 to 11 years who are at risk of exclusion or permanent exclusion from mainstream primary school due to their behaviour, mental health issues, safeguarding issues or criminal behaviour. The majority of the pupils at this school have a history of trauma, so the school are looking for people who can demonstrate genuine empathy and patience with their pupils - an understanding or background of working with young people with trauma issues would be beneficial but not essential for this role. This provision provides Animal Care and Construction qualifications, so candidates looking to apply have to be comfortable getting messy and involved in these activities.
