Secondary Cover Supervisor:

Are you a teaching assistant looking for your next step in education? We have had an exciting opportunity become available to work within a secondary school in the Cardiff area as a cover supervisor.

We are actively looking to find an individual with experience, confidence and has a can-do attitude which will be invaluable in a classroom environment. You will be responsible for supporting secondary aged pupils and covering the class while the class teacher is away.

The ability to speak Welsh is preferred, but not essential for this role

Duties will include:

  • Covering secondary aged classes while the teacher is away
  • Maintaining classroom discipline in line with the school discipline policy
  • Building rapport between yourself and pupils
  • Supporting pupils as they undertake work in line with the national curriculum priorities
  • Promoting the school ethos and adhering to all school policies and procedures
  • Working closely with all school colleagues and under direction of the school leadership team.

The ideal candidate will:

  • An excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Have experience of working in a Secondary School setting
  • Have strong classroom management skills
  • Be registered (or willing to register) with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Be a passionate practitioner with the desire to improve the education outcomes for all pupils
  • Have excellent organisational skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Be able to support and promote the ethos of the school
