South Tyneside (Full Time)
£120 - 150 per day - Pre AWR (salary is depending on experience and/or qualifications)

September 2025 - July 2026

Secondary KS3 and KS4

The School and Role

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join an ‘Outstanding’ SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Primary and Secondary School based in South Tyneside. The school is seeking a committed English Teacher to work on a full-time basis, covering a maternity leave from September 2025 for the full academic year.

This is a fantastic role for an English Teacher who thrives in a supportive, inclusive environment. The successful candidate will be part of an established, dedicated team, working with small class sizes to deliver engaging English lessons to students with a variety of SEND, including Autism, medical, physical, social, emotional, and moderate learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated English lessons to pupils in Key Stage 3 and 4, ensuring all students' needs are met.
  • Create and implement tailored learning plans for students with diverse SEND needs.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure effective learning and inclusion for all pupils.
  • Foster a positive, nurturing, and safe classroom environment that encourages pupil engagement, independence, and confidence.
  • Monitor and assess pupils' progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, including SENCo, to ensure the appropriate support is in place for each student.
  • Contribute to the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and attend relevant meetings.
  • Maintain a high standard of classroom management and uphold the school's ethos and values.

Requirements

The desired English Teacher will have;

  • A qualified English teacher (QTS/QTLS) with experience teaching Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Passionate about working with children with SEND and able to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Empathetic and patient, with a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Experience with children who have Autism, medical, physical, social, emotional, and/or moderate learning difficulties is desirable but not essential.
  • A proactive, flexible approach to teaching and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.

As a English Teacher, part of our team, you benefit from:

  • Excellent daily rates paid using the PAYE system.
  • Guaranteed pay scheme (subject to availability).
