About the Role

We are looking for a confident and adaptable General Cover Teacher to work within a supportive secondary school environment in Southend-on-Sea. The role involves delivering pre-set lesson materials across a range of subjects during teacher absences, ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere.

This is an excellent opportunity for qualified teachers, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), or experienced cover staff seeking flexible and varied classroom experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-prepared lessons across multiple subjects and year groups
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Ensure students remain engaged, focused, and supported in their learning
• Provide feedback to teaching staff where required
• Adapt quickly to different classroom environments and expectations

About You

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) desirable but not essential
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Flexible, reliable, and confident working across different subjects
• Passionate about supporting young people’s education
• Able to build rapport quickly with students and staff
