Vision for Education are recruiting for Learning Support Assistants with experience of working with SEND children, young people or vulnerable adults to work in a SEND school in South Tyneside.
About the role
You will work alongside the class teacher to support pupils with SEND ensuring safety and access to the curriculum. You will establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to their individual needs. You will promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils and encourage engagement and interaction within teaching and learning activities led by the teacher.
You will provide support to the teacher, using strategies to liaise and support pupil progress and provide detailed feedback. You will work with the teacher to ensure pupils with SEND are supported to access the curriculum and provide general classroom support and smaller group interventions.

The school is for pupils aged 4 – 16 whose special needs cover a broad spectrum of medical, physical, social, emotional and moderate learning difficulties. The overall aim of the school is to allow each pupil to develop his/her full potential, not only academically, but as independent citizens, in a positive, caring and supportive environment. Creative, challenging and imaginative lessons are at the heart of what they strive to deliver. They aim to provide a school environment which allows academic achievement and independence to flourish as an important part of their curriculum offer.
Requirements

- A commitment to contributing to school life and our community.
- Previous experience of working in an educational or care setting with children, young people or adults with learning difficulties.
- A current DBS on the update service or be willing to get a new DBS.

Salary
£300 to £450 per week
- Previous school experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities.
