About the role
Vision for Education are seeking Learning Support Assistant’s to support across SEND schools in Birmingham.
The schools we work alongside, cater for pupils aged 4–19 with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to access learning and achieve their individual goals.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Adapt to different classroom environments and respond to the varying needs of pupils.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and social development.
- Support pupils with communication, sensory and personal care needs where required.
- Encourage independence, confidence and participation in school activities.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reporting.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.
About you:
- To be considered for the Learning Support Assistant role, you will:
- Hold suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
- Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
- Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
