About the role
Vision for Education are looking to appoint a confident, outgoing, and inspirational role model for young people. The successful Pastoral Support Worker will work in partnership with school senior leaders and existing pastoral manager to ensure student behaviour is positive and conducive to learning. You will be required to build positive relationships with both students and colleagues as you deliver early intervention with regards to pupil behaviour.
The appointment of a new pastoral support worker is important to the ongoing achievement of the school. As outlined in the Job Description, the successful candidate will be key in removing barriers to education and enabling pupils to achieve for their full potential.
The role is 30 hours a week initially as a 12-month temporary contract but with the opportunity to be extended for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
• Having a presence in the school and building relationships with challenging students
• Supporting teaching staff and school SLT with swift collection and intervention with students sent out of class
• Delivering positive mentoring to support students who are struggling to remain in the classroom so that they can return to the classroom
• Deliver supportive sessions on helping students understand the need for routine, self-discipline, metacognition, and self-regulation strategies
• Involvement in parental engagement, meeting parents and carers during the week, attending social working meetings, home visits if necessary and attending student support meetings

The role involves engaging and supporting children who are experiencing difficulties in learning due to social, emotional or behavioural problems or other issues.
The school is a larger than average, 2 form entry school located in Preston, Lancashire. Requirements
- Must hold a minimum of a level 3 qualification
- Relevant experience working within education
- An understanding of SEMH/SEN
- Experience working with challenging behaviour

£67 to £89 per day
