The School and Role
This Primary SEND Alternative Provision, based in South Tyneside is looking to appoint a passionate Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in Key Stage 1 and 2 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this Primary SEND Alternative Provision as part of an established team, the desired Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEMH and Behavioural Difficulties. As a Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant you will support the class teacher in working with pupils who are disaffected to help raise standards of achievement and help enable them to become independent learners. You will engage in positive behaviour management and encourage pupils to engage in the wider social and academic aspects of school life through extracurricular activities. This full time Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant role is long term from January ongoing as a maternity cover.
The desired Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant will have;
- Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children.
- Experience of working with pupils with SEND and/or SEMH and challenging behaviours.
- A passion for the progress of secondary school pupils.
- An ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to deal with fast paced situations.
