About the role
We are currently recruiting skilled SEN specialist teaching assistants to support a York SEN School client on a flexible supply basis.
The Role:
As an SEN teaching assistant, the role can vary from school to school and can include the following duties;
- Academic support
- Behaviour mentor
- Assistance with communication
- Run or assist with Nuture groups
- Personal care and toilet training
- Working inside or outside the classroom with individuals or groups
- Nurturing children's physical, social and emotional welfare
- Keep records and attend review meetings
Requirements
As an SEN teaching assistant you will work with children with a range of SEN such as Autism, ADHD, SLCN, and PD, so experience in one or more of there areas, or moving and handling training would be desirable.
To be a successfull in this role you will:
- Have a minimum of 1 years experience working within a school or care setting
- Moving and handling training would be beneficial
- Be able to promote a safe and positive learning environment
- Mentor and engage with the pupils, successfully delivering specifically designed educational packages
