About the role
Vision for Education is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work with secondary aged students with Autism and Social Emotional Mental Health needs on a full-time basis.
Hours 8.30am-4.30pm Monday-Friday
About the role:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning styles and abilities.
- Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management and social interaction within the classroom and around school.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
- Implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and behaviour support strategies effectively.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals to support student progress and wellbeing.
- Monitor and record student behaviour, progress and wellbeing, reporting concerns where appropriate.
- Support students during transitions, break times and enrichment activities when required.
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and student welfare at all times.

About you:
To be considered for the Teaching Assistant position, you will:
- Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
- Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
- Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
- Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
