The Role
A secondary academy in Hull seeks to appont a Student Welfare Officer from June 2025. As a Student Welfare Officer, you will work in partnership with families, parents/carers, students and external agencies in a school context to enable students, particularly the most disadvantaged to have full access to educational opportunities and overcom barriers to learning and participation. You will work directly with families in a non-judgemental way empowering them and their family to get the most out of the educational opportunities available. You will also support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in the academy in your role as Deputy DSL.

A Hull based secondary academy that benefits from exceptional leadership as part of a well established Multi Academy Trust. Located close to city centre this academy can be accessed easily by car or public transport.
Requirements
The desired Student Welfare Officer will have;
- GCSE grade C/4 or above, or equivalent, in Maths and English (C)
- Willingness to undertake relevant training focused on the Children’s Service’s needs (A/I) Last updated: 30.06.2022
- Proven experience working with children and their families
- Proven experience working in multi-cultural contexts
- Proven experience working with challenging people and in challenging circumstances
- Previous experience of working effectively with young people preferably in a school setting
- Strong interpersonal skills
This successful candidate may be offered this role on a 'temp to perm' basis, this would meant working on supply via Vision For Education for a term before transitioning to contract with the academy.
