About the role
Vision For Education are currently looking for an experienced Support Worker to work as part of a supportive care team with service users who have an Acquired brain injury.
As a Support Worker you will be required to:
- Establish and maintain trusting, therapeutic, working relationships through effective communication,
- Be responsible for the service user’s personal welfare,
- Contribute to/complete household duties including, cooking, cleaning, dusting, washing and ironing,
- Transport and support client participate in recreation and leisure activities such as gym, swimming, concerts in line with support plan guidelines,
- Carry out the physical management programme as advised by physiotherapist & occupational therapist and/or speech & language therapist.
The post requires shift work, including sleeping night shifts, so it important to maintain a flexible approach to the individual’s care. A 1:1 staff ratio is required.
About the school
The service users live in their own purposely adapted homes, and can have adapted vehicles to enable the Support Worker to take them out in the community.
Requirements
- Have a full driving licence
- Be passionate about delivering the best possible outcomes and service to individuals
- Be caring, and be able to demonstrate empathy and an understanding of the individual needs of others
About Vision for Education
Salary
£10 to £12 per hour
- A Care certificate (NVQ 2 or 3 in Care)
- A minimum of six weeks experience working as a Support Worker
- And experience of using specialist equipment such as hoist & wheelchairs.
