About the role -
- Delivering personalised lessons tailored to students individual Education, Health and Care Plan outcomes.
- Differentiating learning activities to meet a wide range of cognitive, communication, sensory and physical needs.
- Supporting students to develop independence, life skills and preparation for adulthood.
- Monitoring and assessing student progress against individual targets and curriculum outcomes.
- Working closely with teaching assistants to ensure effective support and engagement during lessons.
- Adapting resources and learning environments to meet student’s specific needs.
- Managing behaviour positively and implementing individual behaviour support plans.
- Writing reports, updating records and maintaining accurate documentation relating to student achievement and wellbeing.
- Teaching employability, vocational and independent living skills (where appropriate).
- Supporting students during transition planning for further education, employment, supported internships or adult services.
- Conducting safeguarding monitoring and reporting any concerns in line with school policies.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a qualified teacher (PGCE/QTS/QTLS essential).
- Has experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly those working below age-related expectations.
- Understands SEMH, cognition and learning needs, communication difficulties, or other complex learning profiles.
- Is patient, resilient, and creative in their approach to teaching.
- Has strong behaviour-support skills.
- Can work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
To be considered for the role, you will:
- Have a suitable qualification, (QTS/QTLS essential).
- Have experience of working with children with special education needs and disabilities.
- Be confident in your abilities and skills to promote happy and confident learners.
- Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications.
