Vision for Education are actively recruiting individuals with a background in supporting adults or children who display social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) in the Swansea area.
We work closely with a pupil referral unit (PRU) who require the support of a teaching assistant to work alongside pupils on both a 1:1 and small group basis.
What will the role involve?
- Working with primary / secondary aged pupils
- The role will involve building strong and trusting relationships
- Be required to work either with small groups or on a 1:1 basis
- Being resilient and support individuals through difficult situations
- Work alongside and support the class teacher to assess the needs of pupils and support pupils’ learning both in and out of class
- Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities
- De-escalate and use positive reinforcements to engage and promote learning within the classroom
The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:
- Ideally you will have previous experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour and social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).
- A Team-Teach qualification or relevant qualification (e.g. PROACT-SCIP/MAPA) are highly desirable, but not essential.
- An understanding of the importance of maintaining a stimulant yet fun learning environment.
- Experience supporting primary or secondary aged pupils
- An understanding and flexible nature is essential, alongside being proactive, empathetic, engaging and creative.
- Be patient, engaging and calm when under pressure.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum
- Be registered (or willing to register) with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
