- The overarching purpose of the role is to work with pupils who have learning difficulties usually with a statement of Special Educational Needs.
- The ideal Teaching Assistant Level 2 will be prepared to ‘go the extra mile’ to support very special young people.
- You will be required to prepare and adapt materials suitable for pupils with learning difficulties to use in class, alongside facilitating small group and 1:1 sessions for students in their specialised curricula.
About the school
The role will be working within a Primary or SEND specialist school within Burnley and the surrounding areas, becoming part of their school community supporting young people with barriers to learning and SEND learning needs.
As an Teaching Assistant Level 2, you would be required to meet the holistic needs of the pupils under the direction of the class teacher and senior support staff, alongside undertaking working 1:1 with individual students with SEND needs and potential challenging behaviour and barriers to learning.
There are opportunities for this role to become a permanent position after a qualifying period is worked.
Requirements
To be considered for the role of Teaching Assistant Level 2 you will:
- Hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Desirable to have prior experience working as a TA within schools.
- Desirable to drive due to locations of some rural specialist school settings in the area.
- Be able to motivate and support pupil(s) to remain on task and complete work in a focused way.
- Have an enthusiasm for supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- You will be committed to personal learning and development.

Salary
£400 to £500 per week
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Have relevant experience of working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
- Have a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
