About the role

The successful primary school teacher will be expected to use their knowledge and enthusiasm to engage children, inspiring them to enjoy learning within the classroom.

You will be responsible for a class of Year 2 pupils with support from two teaching assistants. The ideal candidate will have already worked as a teacher, preferably with pupils of Key Stage 1 (KS1) age (5-7 years old) and will have extensive knowledge of the KS1 curriculum.

Although an experienced teacher is preferred the school is willing to accept an Early Career Teacher (ECT) to help them to embark onto their teaching career.

The successful candidate will be expected to work five days a week (Monday-Friday) during term-time only and is due to start ASAP and has no end date in mind.

Your typical day-to-day duties as a Year 2 Primary Teacher at the school will include:

  • Planning appropriate lessons to meet national curriculum guidelines.
  • Creating engaging lessons to involve pupils of all abilities, coordinating with colleagues and TAs where needed.
  • Encouraging children to work together to achieve goals.
  • Completing administrative work. E.g., taking registers, updating records, marking work and writing reports.
  • Setting up the classroom, organising displays and equipment.
  • Providing help and support to individual pupils as required, taking responsibility for their academic progress.
  • Using different teaching methods, including whole class, group work, independent research, demonstrations, experiments and play, to motivate and encourage interaction in the class.
  • Carrying out assessments and setting homework.
  • Setting expectations for discipline and behaviour including dealing with inappropriate behaviour according to school policy.
  • Liaising with senior leadership, parents and external bodies in relation to progress, behaviour, child protection and health.
  • Providing a safe, healthy environment, and following safeguarding procedures.

The school has been recently awarded ‘Good’ by Ofsted after a recent inspection. The school is easily accessible by car and has its own car park for use of staff. Driving is not essential for this role, as the school is easily accessible via a bus route if public transport is required.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Year 2 Primary Teacher – Chorley you will:
  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Preferably has experience of working in a Primary School as a teacher within the Key Stage 1 area, although this is not essential.
  • Must have a passion for engaging children in a fun, exciting and engaging manner.
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills.
  • Have a genuine interest to become part of a committed team.

Salary

£120 to £189 per hour

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
