Pupils from High Park School were thrilled to take part in a summer-themed art competition organised by Vision for Education.
The competition was offered for all pupils at the specialist school for children with severe and complex learning disabilities and autism to express creativity and encourage communication and interaction. The response was fantastic with both pupils and staff involved from every class and over 20 individual and group entries submitted.
Rav Jandu, Vision for Education’s Leeds Branch Manager said: “I was excited to work with Helen to organise this competition for High Park School. We wanted something that would allow all the children in school to express their creativity and get involved. The response was fantastic, with every class taking part, with many outstanding entries submitted. It was a privilege to be invited to school to pick the winner, I enjoyed seeing how excited the children and the staff were about the competition.”
The winning piece, created by Beech 1 was chosen by Rav for its creative use of pasta to construct a textured, multi-layered effect. The team were thrilled to receive a £50 Amazon voucher to use on a class resource. The team voted to buy an outdoor basketball hoop with the voucher so others could benefit from their success.
Vision for Education have a genuine commitment to the learning and development of children and young people, and this is just one of a number of ways that Vision for Education gives back to schools, to help enhance pupils’ learning environment and experiences.
After the remarkable success with this competition, Vision for Education are planning to run one in the new academic year.
