1:1 Classroom Assistant

About the role

Vision for Education is seeking experienced 1-1 Classroom Support Assistants to work in an SEN School in Bromsgrove on a full-time basis.

Roles available starting in the September Term all on a long term – permanent basis for the right candidate.

Hours 0830-3.30pm Monday-Friday.

About the role

  • As a 1-1 Support within a school, you will play a crucial role in providing personalised assistance to students with special educational needs or individual learning requirements.
  • Your primary responsibility is to offer tailored support to help students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential within the school environment
  • This role involves working closely with students, teachers, and other support staff to ensure the delivery of effective support strategies
  • Implementing individualised learning plans, promoting student engagement and independence, and maintaining regular communication with parents, careers and outside professionals.

About the School

  • A specialist all-through school based in Bromsgrove supporting students who have a range of complex learning needs including social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language communication difficulties and autism.
  • Maintaining a nurturing environment where young people can achieve their full potential, ensuring that young people are heard, respected, and involved in decisions that affect them, wherever possible, engaging positively with their learning.
  • Creating a home-like atmosphere to ensure a smooth transition for students.
  • Adapting activities or explaining instructions in ways the student can understand.

About you:

To be considered for the 1-1 Classroom Support position, you will:

  • Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
  • Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
  • Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
