Vision for Education is seeking caring, resilient, and enthusiastic ALN Teaching Assistants to work across specialist schools and educational settings in Chepstow and the surrounding Monmouthshire area.

As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, develop independence, and achieve positive educational outcomes within a supportive and inclusive environment.

The Role
As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you may support pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs and Special Educational Needs, including:
- ALN – Additional Learning Needs
- ASC – Autism Spectrum Condition
- SEMH – Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
- MLD – Moderate Learning Difficulties
- SLD – Severe Learning Difficulties
- PMLD – Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Behavioural and Emotional Support Needs
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing one-to-one support for pupils with ALN
- Delivering small-group interventions and targeted learning support
- Assisting teachers with classroom activities and lesson delivery
- Adapting learning materials to meet individual pupil requirements
- Supporting emotional wellbeing, communication, and social development
- Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Supporting behaviour management strategies within the classroom
- Assisting with personal care where required
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:
- Education and Schools
- ALN or SEN Support
- Care and Support Work
- Youth Work
- Residential Childcare
- Nursery and Early Years Settings
- Mental Health Support
- Coaching and Mentoring
- Community or Family Support Services
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence supporting children and young people with additional needs
- The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
- A commitment to helping pupils achieve their individual goals
- CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualifications, or relevant experience (desirable but not essential)
