Vision for Education are recruiting Classroom Support Assistants to work in schools across Stroud and the surrounding areas.

We are looking for people who enjoy working with children and young people and want to play an active role in helping them get the most from their time at school. Opportunities are available in a range of primary, secondary and SEND settings, with both full-time and part-time work available.

As a Classroom Support Assistant, you could be working with pupils individually, supporting small groups or helping the wider class. Some pupils may need extra support with their learning, communication, behaviour, confidence or independence.

This role is ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, SEN TAs and classroom support staff, but we also welcome applications from people with relevant experience in childcare, care, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching or similar roles.

The Role

No two placements are exactly the same, but your role may include:

  • Supporting children in the classroom and around the school
  • Providing 1:1 support to pupils where needed
  • Working with small groups on learning activities
  • Supporting pupils with SEN, SEND and additional needs
  • Helping children with autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, speech and language needs and social or emotional needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
  • Helping pupils build confidence, independence and social skills
  • Following individual support plans and guidance from school staff
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and other support professionals
  • Helping create a calm, safe and inclusive environment for pupils

Who we're looking for

You don't need years of school experience to apply. We are keen to hear from people who have worked with children, young people or individuals who need additional support.

Experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Classroom Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Youth Worker, Mentor, Sports Coach or Childcare Practitioner would be beneficial.

  • Flexible and happy to adapt to different school environments
  • Calm and positive when supporting behaviour
  • A good communicator and team player
  • Reliable and professional
  • In possession of an Enhanced DBS, or willing to apply for one
  • Eligible to work in the UK
