About the Role
As a Classroom Support Assistant, you could work across primary and specialist settings, supporting pupils with SEND, SEN, Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, speech and language needs and behavioural needs.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Helping children engage with lessons and classroom activities
- Working alongside teachers, Teaching Assistants and SEN staff
- Encouraging positive behaviour and good learning habits
- Supporting pupils with communication, social and emotional needs
- Helping children develop confidence, independence and resilience
- Following individual support plans and school strategies
- Creating a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment
Who We're Looking For
This role would suit someone who is:
- Passionate about working with children and young people
- Patient, reliable and approachable
- Confident building positive relationships with pupils
- A good communicator and team player
- Able to remain calm when supporting challenging behaviour
- Experienced in education, childcare, care, youth work, sports coaching or similar settings — although this is not essential
- Interested in developing a career as a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, Learning Support Assistant or support worker
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred, or you must be willing to obtain one.
