Salary: £93.56 – £100 per day (dependent on experience and/or qualifications)

The Role

Vision for Education is recruiting enthusiastic and creative individuals to work as Creative Arts Teaching Assistants in Cwmbran from September 2026.

We are looking for people with a background in education, care, creative arts, drama, music, dance, performing arts or a related field who are passionate about supporting children and young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

As a Creative Arts Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside classroom teachers to help pupils access learning, engage in creative activities and develop their confidence through art, music, drama, dance and other creative approaches.

You will support children and young people aged 3–16 with ALN, helping them develop academically, socially, emotionally and creatively. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, with the needs and age range of pupils varying depending on the setting.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is creative, patient, enthusiastic and confident working with children and wants to develop their experience within an ALN or SEN setting.

Whether you have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, Drama Practitioner, Music Teacher or Creative Arts professional, we would be interested in hearing from you.

September starts are available, with both full-time and part-time opportunities.

Do you currently hold an enhanced DBS? Is it registered on the Update Service? Vision for Education can provide support with this if required. An enhanced DBS check is required as part of the registration process.

Welsh language skills are preferred but not essential for this role.

Requirements

The ideal Creative Arts Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience working with children and young people aged 3–16
  • Experience supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • A background, qualification or strong interest in creative arts, music, drama, dance, art or creative learning
  • A genuine passion for helping children develop, succeed and express themselves
  • A patient, supportive and adaptable approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and young people
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (support available if required)
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – assistance available
