Early Career Teachers wanted for primary schools across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Day to day and long-term placements, £130 to £160 a day paid weekly, with honest advice on which placements count towards induction.

About the role

Early Career Teacher (ECT) – Primary – Stoke-on-Trent

£130–£160 per day · Weekly pay · Flexible Primary Teaching Opportunities

Finished your teacher training and looking for the right school to start your career?

Vision For Education are looking for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) to work across primary schools in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and surrounding areas.

Whether you're still looking for your first permanent class, want to build experience before committing to a school, or need your next placement to continue your induction, we can help you get into local classrooms.

Opportunities for ECTs

We work with primary schools looking for teachers across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, with opportunities including:

  • Day-to-day supply teaching

  • Regular work with the same schools

  • Half-term and full-term placements

  • Longer-term roles that may support your ECT induction

  • Potential permanent opportunities

Short-term supply can be a great way to build experience, but it doesn't automatically count towards your statutory ECT induction.

For longer placements, we'll make it clear whether the school can support your induction before you accept the role.

What you'll be doing

Depending on the booking, you'll:

  • Teach classes across EYFS, KS1 or KS2

  • Deliver lessons using work provided by the school on day-to-day bookings

  • Manage the classroom and create a positive learning environment

  • Build experience across different year groups and school settings

  • Develop relationships with local schools that may lead to longer-term opportunities

For day-to-day supply, you'll generally arrive, teach the lessons provided and finish when the school day finishes – without taking planning home with you.

Pay and benefits

  • £130–£160 per day, depending on experience and the role

  • Paid weekly through PAYE

  • Choose your availability, from one day per week to full-time

  • Day-to-day and longer-term teaching opportunities

  • Guaranteed pay scheme (subject to criteria)

  • Pension contributions after a qualifying period

  • Full AWR (Agency Workers Regulations) compliance

  • Free CPD and safeguarding training

  • Career support as you progress through your ECT years

  • Refer-a-friend bonus

  • Support from a dedicated Primary consultant

Who we're looking for

This could suit you if you:

  • Qualified as a teacher in 2025 or 2026

  • Haven't started your ECT induction yet

  • Have completed part of your induction and are looking for your next school

  • Want to experience different primary schools before committing long-term

  • Have recently moved to the Stoke or Newcastle area

  • Want flexible teaching work while looking for the right permanent position

What you'll need

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Two suitable professional references covering your training placements or recent employment

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

  • The right to work in the UK

  • A positive and adaptable approach to working in different primary schools

How it works

We'll talk through which year groups you prefer, how far you're happy to travel and whether you're looking for day-to-day or longer-term work.

Once your compliance checks are complete, we can start introducing you to suitable local schools.

Supply also gives schools the chance to see you teach. If they like what they see, a one-day booking can often lead to repeat work and longer opportunities.
