We’re looking for a warm, enthusiastic and committed EYFS Teacher to join a friendly primary school in Papworth, Cambridgeshire, from January 2027 on a maternity-cover basis.

The role
As the EYFS Teacher, you’ll take responsibility for an Early Years class, providing a safe, stimulating and engaging learning environment where every child is encouraged to explore, learn and thrive.
You’ll plan and deliver purposeful learning opportunities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, balancing adult-led activities with opportunities for child-initiated learning and play.
A key part of the role will be supporting children with their communication and language, early reading, phonics, writing and mathematical development, while also helping them build the personal, social and emotional skills they need as they progress through school.

Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning opportunities

Create an exciting and stimulating continuous provision environment

Support children with a range of needs and abilities

Deliver high-quality phonics and early reading sessions

Observe, assess and monitor children’s learning and development

Use assessment to plan appropriate next steps for individual children

Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment

Work closely with Teaching Assistants and other members of staff

Build positive relationships with parents and carers

Support children as they develop their confidence, independence and curiosity
The school has a supportive staff team and is looking for someone who can quickly become an important part of the school community while providing consistency for the children during the maternity-cover period.
What we’re looking for
To be considered for this EYFS Teacher position, you will need:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
-
Experience teaching within a primary school
-
Ideally, previous experience teaching within EYFS
-
A good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
-
A strong understanding of phonics and early reading
-
A positive, patient and nurturing approach to classroom management
-
The ability to create engaging learning opportunities for children with different needs and abilities
-
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to complete the required clearance

Two positive references covering your recent teaching experience
