Graduate Teacher (Cover Supervisor)

Location: Beverley and East Riding
Salary: £90 - £120 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

Vision for Education are currently recruiting enthusiastic and reliable Graduate Teachers to work as Cover Supervisors within secondary schools across Beverley, the East Riding and surrounding areas.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for graduates who are considering a future career in teaching, education, youth work or pastoral support. It provides the chance to gain valuable, hands-on experience in a secondary school environment while earning a competitive daily rate, before moving on to teacher training or a PGCE.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising students in the absence of their usual teacher. You will deliver work that has been prepared in advance, maintain a positive learning environment and encourage students to complete their tasks. Strong classroom management and the ability to build positive relationships with young people are key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cover Supervisor, your duties will include:

• Supervising classes of secondary school students during teacher absence

• Providing students with clear instructions and delivering pre-prepared lesson materials

• Maintaining high standards of behaviour and classroom expectations

• Encouraging students to participate and complete their assigned work

• Providing appropriate support to students throughout the lesson

• Communicating effectively with teaching and pastoral staff

• Giving feedback to the relevant teacher following each lesson

• Creating a calm, positive and productive classroom environment

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Have a degree or be working towards completing a degree

• Demonstrate enthusiasm for working with young people

• Be confident and comfortable supervising students aged 11–16

• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Be able to establish clear boundaries and manage behaviour effectively

• Be flexible, dependable and professional in your approach

• Ideally have previous experience working with children or young people, whether paid or voluntary

A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle would be advantageous, although this is not essential.
