Vision for Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND 1 Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive primary school in Blackpool, Lancashire from September 2026. This rewarding SEND Teaching Assistant role in Blackpool, Lancashire is for the full 2026/27 academic year, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position in 2027 for the right candidate.

The Role

This SEND Teaching Assistant position in Blackpool, Lancashire will involve supporting learning within a Reception classroom, working closely with the class teacher to help pupils achieve their full potential in a positive and engaging learning environment.

As an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception-aged child with complex SEND, alongside offering general classroom support within the EYFS setting. The pupil is non-verbal and has Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), therefore previous experience supporting non-verbal pupils with ASC on a 1:1 basis is essential.

The role will include:

  • Providing consistent, tailored 1:1 support to a Reception pupil with complex SEND.
  • Supporting communication, engagement and learning through individualised strategies.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider school staff to implement support plans.
  • Encouraging the child's independence, confidence and social development.
  • Assisting with classroom activities and providing general support across the EYFS classroom when appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate observations and contributing to pupil progress reviews.
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

To be considered for this SEND Teaching Assistant role in Blackpool, Lancashire, you must have previous experience supporting non-verbal pupils with ASC on a 1:1 basis and be confident working within an Early Years environment. A calm, patient and adaptable approach, along with excellent communication skills, is essential.

Requirements

To be considered for the SEND Teaching Assistant role in Blackpool, Lancashire, you will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children within a primary school setting.
  • Have previous phonics experience, with Read Write Inc. training and delivery highly desirable.
  • Have experience supporting or working with pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Be patient, adaptable and committed to helping every child succeed.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
