About the role
Key Stage 2 Teacher – Garstang, Lancashire
Vision for Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Teacher to join a welcoming village primary school in the Garstang area as soon as possible, and a permanent opportunity available in 2027 for the right candidate.
This exciting long-term opportunity is to cover a period of long-term staff absence and is expected to continue until July 2027. It would suit a passionate teacher who enjoys working in a small-school environment, building strong relationships with pupils and contributing to the wider life of a close-knit school community.
The Role
This Key Stage 2 Teacher position offers the opportunity to take responsibility for a small, mixed-age class within a friendly village primary school. With relatively low pupil numbers, the role provides an excellent opportunity to get to know each child as an individual, understand their learning needs and support their academic and personal development.
The successful teacher will plan and deliver engaging lessons that inspire pupils to achieve their full potential, creating a positive, inclusive classroom where every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to succeed.
Responsibilities will include:
- Taking full class teaching responsibility for a small, mixed-age Key Stage 2 class, potentially spanning Years 3–6.
- Planning and delivering creative, engaging and differentiated lessons across the primary curriculum.
- Adapting teaching to meet the needs of pupils working at different levels and stages of development.
- Assessing, monitoring and reporting on pupil progress, identifying next steps in learning.
- Creating a positive classroom environment that promotes excellent behaviour, independence and a love of learning.
- Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues.
- Supporting pupils' personal, social and emotional development alongside their academic progress.
- Contributing to the wider life of the school, including its community activities and events.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching, learning and pastoral care.
This role would suit an experienced Key Stage 2 Teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop their skills in a supportive setting. It is particularly well suited to someone who enjoys the variety of mixed-age teaching and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a smaller group of pupils.
The School
This friendly village primary school in the Garstang area offers a nurturing, community-focused environment where children are encouraged to develop confidence, independence and a genuine enthusiasm for learning.
With smaller pupil numbers and a close-knit school community, the school offers a more personal approach to education, where staff can build meaningful relationships with pupils and families. The successful teacher will have the opportunity to get to know the children well, celebrate their individual achievements and help create a classroom where every pupil feels included and supported.
Village schools often offer a distinctive sense of community, with staff working closely together and playing an important role in school life beyond the classroom. The school is looking for a teacher who will embrace this ethos, bring energy and creativity to their teaching, and contribute positively to the wider school community.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who values a warm, welcoming environment, enjoys the challenge of meeting a range of learning needs within one class and wants to make a genuine impact during a long-term placement.
