Learning Supervisor – Lydney
Vision for Education are recruiting Learning Supervisors to work with schools across Lydney and the surrounding areas of Gloucestershire.
This is a varied role supporting pupils in primary, secondary and SEND settings, making it a good option for anyone who enjoys working with children and young people and wants to gain more experience in education.
You don't need to be a qualified teacher. Depending on the school and age group, you'll be supporting learning, supervising pupils, helping with activities and making sure students remain engaged and settled throughout the day.
The role could suit experienced Cover Supervisors, Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Learning Mentors, Behaviour Mentors, graduates, youth workers, sports coaches and childcare professionals.
What you'll be doing
Your day-to-day work will depend on the school, but may include:
- Supporting pupils with classroom activities and learning
- Supervising groups of children and young people
- Following lesson plans and activities provided by teaching staff
- Helping pupils stay focused and engaged
- Providing encouragement and support where needed
- Managing behaviour in a calm and positive way
- Supporting pupils with additional needs where appropriate
- Helping create a safe and welcoming classroom environment
- Working closely with teachers and other school staff
- Reporting any concerns or relevant information to the school
What we're looking for
We're keen to hear from people who:
- Have experience working with children or young people
- Are confident working with groups of pupils
- Have a positive and patient approach
- Can build good relationships with children
- Communicate well with pupils and staff
- Are reliable, flexible and organised
- Can adapt to different schools and age groups
- Have an Enhanced DBS or are willing to apply for one
- Have the Right to Work in the UK
Previous experience in a school isn't essential. Experience from youth work, sports coaching, childcare, mentoring, care, tutoring or community work can also be highly relevant.
