About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant in Caerphilly, you will work closely with teaching staff and specialist professionals to support pupils with a range of additional learning needs and disabilities.

You may support pupils with:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
• Complex Learning Needs
• Sensory Processing Difficulties
• Behavioural and emotional support needs

Your role will focus on helping pupils access learning, develop confidence, improve communication skills, and achieve their individual targets within a structured and nurturing educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support
• Supporting pupils with additional learning needs throughout the school day
• Assisting teachers with classroom activities and differentiated learning tasks
• Promoting independence, confidence, and social development
• Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies
• Following individual learning plans and safeguarding procedures
• Building positive and consistent relationships with pupils and staff
• Supporting communication and sensory regulation programmes
• Contributing to a positive and engaging classroom environment

Requirements

• Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults is desirable
• Previous experience supporting ALN, SEN, autism, or complex needs is advantageous
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work effectively as part of a busy school team
• Commitment to supporting pupils with diverse learning needs
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• CACHE Level 2/3, Health and Social Care, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or similar qualifications are desirable but not essential
