Vision for Education are seeking caring, resilient, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant’s to support young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). The setting is located in Derby.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Promote engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to meet individual needs.
- Provide encouragement and guidance to help students achieve their potential.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people (preferred).
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively.
- Passion for supporting vulnerable learners and making a difference.
About you:
To be considered for the Learning Support Assistant role, you will:
Hold suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students.
Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
