Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? Do you have experience working with challenging behaviour, autism, learning disabilities or mental health needs? Vision for Education are looking to appoint compassionate and resilient Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Assistants to join our team, supporting specialist SEN schools across Chippenham.
This flexible role is offered on a 0-hour contract, making it ideal for those looking to work around existing commitments while gaining experience across a variety of specialist settings.
The role
As a PBS Assistant, you will work closely with pupils with a range of complex needs including Autism (ASC), SEMH, ADHD and learning disabilities. Using Positive Behaviour Support strategies, you will help pupils overcome barriers to learning, encourage positive interactions and support them to achieve their individual goals.
You will:
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Support children to regulate their emotions using PBS strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour and reduce barriers to learning.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and the wider school team.
- Record observations and contribute to behaviour support plans.
- Encourage independence, communication and social development.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience supporting children or vulnerable adults with additional needs.
- Have a calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Be confident managing behaviours that challenge using positive de-escalation techniques.
- Be passionate about helping children reach their full potential.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
