Primary Classroom Assistant – Dursley
Vision for Education are looking for Primary Classroom Assistants to support primary schools in Dursley and the surrounding areas of Gloucestershire.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being around children and wants a role where they can make a real difference in the classroom. You'll work alongside teachers and other support staff, helping pupils with their learning, keeping them engaged and giving extra support where it's needed.
There are opportunities across different year groups, and some positions involve working closely with children who have SEND and additional needs, including autism, ADHD, communication difficulties and learning needs.
Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, or you have transferable experience from childcare, youth work, care or coaching, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
What you'll be doing
Your day-to-day role will depend on the school and class, but could include:
- Supporting the teacher during lessons
- Working with individual pupils and small groups
- Helping children understand and complete their work
- Supporting reading, writing, maths and other classroom activities
- Providing 1:1 support where required
- Helping pupils with SEND access their learning
- Encouraging positive behaviour and good classroom routines
- Building children's confidence and independence
- Supporting social and communication skills
- Helping create a positive and well-managed classroom
What we're looking for
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is reliable, patient and good with children.
Previous school experience is useful but isn't essential. You may have worked as a Teaching Assistant, TA, SEN TA, LSA, Learning Support Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, Support Worker, Youth Worker or Sports Coach, or simply have strong experience working with children.
You'll need to be:
- Friendly and approachable
- Patient and understanding
- Confident communicating with children
- Able to work well with teachers and other staff
- Adaptable and willing to support different pupils
- Reliable and professional
- Interested in helping children learn and develop
You will also need an Enhanced DBS, or be willing to apply for one, and have the Right to Work in the UK.
What you can expect from Vision for Education
- £92.56 - £105 per day
- Weekly PAYE pay
- Full-time, part-time and flexible opportunities
- Short-term and long-term placements
- Immediate start available
- Free CPD and training
- SEND, safeguarding, autism and behaviour training
- Pension contributions
- A dedicated consultant who knows your area and supports you throughout your placement
- Opportunities to progress into longer-term and permanent school positions
