About the Role

Vision for Education are currently recruiting for a confident, reliable and enthusiastic Primary Cover Supervisor to work across primary schools in Southend-on-Sea.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and is confident managing a classroom environment. The successful candidate will provide classroom cover during the absence of the class teacher, ensuring pupils remain engaged in their learning and that lessons run smoothly throughout the school day.

This role would suit an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or someone with previous experience working with children who is looking to develop their career within education.

The Role

As a Primary Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes across different primary year groups and ensuring pupils complete the work set by their usual class teacher.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising whole classes of primary-aged pupils during the absence of the class teacher.

• Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring pupils understand the tasks set.

• Maintaining a positive, safe and productive classroom environment.

• Managing classroom behaviour effectively and consistently.

• Supporting pupils with their learning and encouraging participation.

• Adapting to different year groups, classroom environments and school routines.

• Following lesson plans and school policies and procedures.

• Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other members of staff.

• Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil engagement, behaviour and progress.

• Promoting safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of all pupils.

About You

The ideal candidate will be confident, adaptable and passionate about supporting children's learning and development.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working with children in a primary school or similar setting.

• Experience managing groups of children and maintaining positive behaviour.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and school staff.

• A calm, patient and professional approach.

• The confidence to supervise classes across different primary year groups.

• The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.

• A flexible and proactive attitude.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Candidates with experience as a Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, Youth Worker or in a similar child-focused role are encouraged to apply.
