Vision for Education are recruiting on behalf of a specialist school in Barrow-in-Furness for a dedicated Primary SEND Teacher to join their team from September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. This rewarding opportunity is an ongoing supply position through to July 2027, with the potential for a permanent role for the right Primary SEND Teacher.

The successful Primary SEND Teacher will work within a Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 semi-formal class, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs through a highly personalised and engaging curriculum. The class follows a semi-formal pathway where learning is centred around sensory experiences, play-based activities, exploration and meaningful interactions. Pupils are encouraged to develop communication, cognition, independence and social skills through engaging and developmentally appropriate learning opportunities.
As a Primary SEND Teacher in Barrow-in-Furness, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons through sensory and play-based approaches.
- Support pupils' emotional regulation through carefully planned transitions and regulation opportunities embedded throughout the day.
- Create functional communication opportunities using Makaton, visual supports and communication boards.
- Deliver highly interactive sensory storytelling sessions that promote language and communication development.
- Encourage curiosity, exploration and early problem-solving skills through practical and investigative activities.
- Work closely with support staff and families to ensure pupils achieve their full potential.
- Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive.
The ideal Primary SEND Teacher will have experience working with children with SEND and a passion for delivering creative, child-centred learning experiences. Previous experience within specialist settings, autism provision or semi-formal pathways would be advantageous.
