Vision for Education is recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated Primary Teacher to join a specialist ALN setting in Monmouth from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Primary Teacher or ECT who is passionate about supporting children with additional learning needs and wants to develop their career within specialist education.
The school provides a supportive, structured and nurturing environment for pupils with ASC and a range of additional learning needs. You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to deliver engaging, personalised learning that reflects the individual needs of each pupil.
The Role
As a Primary Teacher in a specialist ALN setting in Monmouth, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons based on individual pupil needs
- Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional learning needs
- Create a safe, calm, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Adapt teaching approaches, resources and activities to support individual learning
- Develop pupils' communication, independence, confidence and social skills
- Support pupils' academic, emotional and personal development
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, support staff and other professionals
- Monitor and assess pupil progress and adapt teaching accordingly
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Contribute to individual learning plans and wider pupil development
You will be supporting children who may have:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
- Communication and interaction needs
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Sensory processing needs
- Social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Complex learning needs
Requirements
To be considered for this Primary Teacher role in Monmouth, you must:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
- Be available to work full-time, Monday to Friday
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children with ALN
- Have an understanding of, or willingness to develop your knowledge of, ASC
- Be confident adapting teaching and learning to meet individual needs
- Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Be patient, resilient and consistent in your approach
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
- Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or be willing to register
Previous experience working within an ALN, SEN or specialist school setting would be highly desirable.
