The School and Role
We are seeking an empathetic, proactive Teaching Assistant to join a specialist resourced provision (the HIVE unit) within a welcoming primary school in Oldham. The HIVE is a dedicated unit tailored to supporting children with complex learning, communication, and sensory needs. This is an exceptional opportunity to become a key team member in a highly supportive setting that prioritises relational practice, holistic development, and inclusive education.
Working closely with specialist staff and class teachers, you will support children within the HIVE unit, helping to implement tailored learning strategies, sensory integration techniques, and positive behaviour management. In line with modern educational approaches, you will focus on building deep relational trust, fostering independence, and creating a safe, adaptive, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive at their own pace.
Requirements
The ideal Teaching Assistant will:

Have proven experience supporting children with SEN, SEND, ASC, ADHD, or SEMH needs within a specialist provision, resourced unit, or mainstream environment

Be skilled in utilising neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, or sensory-aware approaches to support emotional regulation and engagement

Demonstrate high levels of patience, resilience, and adaptability in meeting complex individual needs

Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful, trusted connections with pupils, colleagues, and parents

Be passionate about promoting positive mental health, pupil autonomy, and equitable access to education
