The Role

Vision for Education are looking for a caring and reliable SEN Learning Partner to join a specialist school in Cheltenham.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting children and young people and wants to make a genuine difference to their day-to-day learning and development.

As an SEN Learning Partner, you will work closely with pupils who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You could be supporting pupils with autism, complex needs, communication difficulties, sensory needs, learning difficulties or social and emotional needs, either on a 1:1 basis or as part of a classroom team.

The role is hands-on and varied. You'll help pupils access their learning, build confidence, develop independence and feel comfortable and supported at school.

You don't necessarily need to have worked in a specialist school before. Experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Care Worker or Childcare Practitioner can all be relevant.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting children and young people with SEN and additional needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Helping pupils access lessons and classroom activities
  • Supporting communication, interaction and social development
  • Helping children develop independence and confidence
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Using a calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Helping with sensory, practical and engaging activities
  • Working alongside teachers, TAs and other support staff
  • Following individual support plans and adapting your approach to each pupil
  • Creating a safe, positive and supportive learning environment

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is patient, approachable and genuinely enjoys working with children and young people.

Previous experience working with SEND, SEN, autism, complex needs or challenging behaviour would be beneficial, but we're also interested in candidates with transferable experience.

You could be an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, LSA, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Sports Coach or Childcare Practitioner looking for your next opportunity.

You'll need:

  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals
  • A caring and patient approach
  • Confidence supporting individual needs
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to remain calm and positive when situations become challenging
  • A willingness to learn and adapt
  • An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply
  • The Right to Work in the UK

Why work with Vision for Education?

  • £92.56 - £105 per day
  • Weekly PAYE pay
  • Immediate start available
  • Full-time and flexible opportunities
  • Long-term placements available
  • Free CPD and training
  • Pension contributions
  • A dedicated consultant to support you
  • Access to a wide range of SEN, SEND and education jobs across Gloucestershire
