About the Role
Vision for Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within welcoming and inclusive schools across Chelmsford.
This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to provide tailored support both on a 1:1 basis and within small groups. Typical needs may include Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Support pupils' learning, emotional wellbeing, and classroom engagement
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated learning activities
- Encourage positive behaviour and social development
- Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and communication skills
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress
Requirements
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
- A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with SEN
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Experience gained in schools, care settings, youth work, residential support, or community settings is welcomed.
