About the role
Vision for Education are currently recruiting for a full-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming primary school in Shrewsbury. This is a long-term role running throughout the Autumn Term 2026, until the Christmas break, supporting a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
The Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a pupil with ASC, helping them to access learning and fully participate in school life. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide consistent, nurturing and individualised support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with ASC.
- Supporting the pupil to access learning and classroom activities.
- Helping develop communication, social and emotional skills.
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Assisting with transitions, routines and changes throughout the school day.
- Encouraging independence and confidence.
- Adapting activities and providing additional support where required.
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.

Requirements
The successful 1:1 Teaching Assistant will ideally have:
- Previous experience working with children in a primary school or similar setting.
- Experience supporting children with ASC/SEND is highly desirable.
- A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
- The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to remain consistent and supportive when managing challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their potential.
- Availability to work full-time throughout the Autumn Term until the Christmas break.
- Two satisfactory references.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
