Vision for Education is working in partnership with a specialist school to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. This long-term SEND Teaching Assistant in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria opportunity offers the chance to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with a range of additional needs while becoming part of a supportive and experienced team.

The Role

We are seeking a caring, patient and committed SEND Teaching Assistant in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria to join the school from September 2026 for the full 2026/27 academic year, with the potential for a permanent position beyond this. For the right candidate, an earlier June 2026 start is available.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, you will provide tailored 1:1 support to children and young people across both the primary and secondary age range. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to help pupils access learning, develop independence and achieve their individual targets.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria will support pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, physical disabilities, learning disabilities and complex medical needs. Personal care may be required as part of this rewarding role, so applicants should be comfortable providing dignified and compassionate support where needed.

Previous experience supporting children or adults with autism, medical needs, physical disabilities or learning disabilities is highly desirable. We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in education, health and social care, residential care or similar support settings who have a genuine passion for helping children and young people thrive.
