Teaching Assistant – September 2026 Start

Vision for Education is currently recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Monmouth area from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker or graduate who is looking to develop a career in education while gaining valuable experience supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

Working as part of a dedicated school team, you will provide day-to-day support to pupils, helping them engage with learning, develop independence and build confidence within a structured and supportive environment.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant in Monmouth, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support to pupils across primary and secondary age groups.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supporting pupils to engage with lessons and classroom activities
  • Helping deliver personalised learning activities
  • Encouraging communication, independence and social development
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Assisting with transitions, routines and changes throughout the school day
  • Adapting learning resources to suit individual needs
  • Developing positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Creating a calm, safe and structured learning environment
  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to ensure pupils receive appropriate support

You may support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD and SLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Sensory processing needs
  • Physical and complex learning needs

Who We're Looking For

This opportunity would suit someone with experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional learning needs. Experience in education, care, residential childcare, youth work, sports coaching, psychology, health or social care would also be highly relevant.

Previous ALN or SEN experience is beneficial but not essential. We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Patient, caring and resilient
  • Confident supporting children and young people
  • Able to build positive relationships
  • Calm and consistent when managing challenging behaviour
  • Passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
  • Interested in developing a career within specialist education
  • Reliable and committed to working as part of a school team

A CACHE Level 2, CACHE Level 3 or equivalent qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
