Vision for Education is seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Morecambe, Lancashire, starting in mid-September 2026. This is a full-time, temporary long-term role, working Monday to Friday, term time only.

As a Teaching Assistant in Morecambe, you will work closely on a 1:1 basis with a child with autism, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, build independence and achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive school environment.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a child with autism.
  • Supporting the child to access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to adapt learning activities to meet the child's individual needs.
  • Using appropriate strategies to support communication, engagement and learning.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence.
  • Building a strong, positive and trusting relationship with the child.
  • Supporting the child's social, emotional and academic development.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Supporting the child with transitions and changes to routine where required.

Requirements

To be considered for the Teaching Assistant position, you will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or education setting.
  • Have experience supporting children with autism or additional needs.
  • Hold a minimum Level 2 childcare qualification or equivalent, where required.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be patient, caring and consistent in your approach.
  • Have a good understanding of supporting positive behaviour and promoting independence.
  • Be confident working on a 1:1 basis and able to use your own initiative when required.
