About the Role

Working in partnership with Northern Lights Learning Trust, Vision for Education are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 5/6 Teaching Assistant to work on a part-time basis within primary schools in the Darlington area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children in Key Stage 2, particularly pupils in Year 5 and Year 6. You will work closely with class teachers to help create an engaging, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment, supporting pupils as they develop their academic, social, and emotional skills during these important final years of primary education.

This is a part-time position, ideal for someone looking for a flexible role supporting pupils within Year 5 and Year 6.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Year 5/6 class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across Key Stage 2
• Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, and other areas of the curriculum
• Help create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
• Assist with classroom preparation, organisation, and learning resources
• Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement
• Help prepare pupils for the transition to secondary school
• Work collaboratively with teachers, school staff, and parents where appropriate

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with children in a Key Stage 2 or primary school setting
• Experience supporting pupils in Year 5 and/or Year 6 is desirable
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A passion for primary education and supporting pupils
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Flexibility, reliability, and a proactive approach to supporting learning
