Job Summary

A local School is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEND setting in Hereford.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience working with children or young people in an education, care or support setting, who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop their independence.

The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive team, alongside teachers and other professionals, helping to provide a safe, inclusive and engaging environment for pupils with a wide range of additional needs.

The School and Role

The local school is a specialist primary school in Hereford supporting children aged 2–11 years with a broad range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (CLDD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI).

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support pupils' learning, development and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils to access learning and classroom activities

• Working alongside teachers and other education professionals

• Developing positive relationships with pupils

• Supporting communication and social development

• Encouraging independence and confidence

• Supporting sensory and practical learning activities

• Helping create a safe, positive and inclusive classroom environment

• Supporting pupils' individual learning and development needs

• Working collaboratively with colleagues and outside agencies

• Promoting the safeguarding and welfare of all children and young people

The role may also involve supporting pupils with personal care and other additional needs where required.

• Have a caring, patient and proactive approach

• Be willing to learn and develop within a specialist SEND environment

Experience of working with ASC, PMLD, CLDD or MSI would be advantageous, but we are also interested in candidates with transferable experience from care, support work, residential settings or other relevant backgrounds.
