Vision for Education are looking for Teaching Assistants in the Caerphilly area

About the role

Vision for Education is urgently recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Caerphilly.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Residential Support Worker or Care Worker, as well as graduates looking to build a career within education.

You’ll become part of a supportive school team, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning while developing their confidence, independence and communication skills.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant in Caerphilly, you’ll provide day-to-day support to pupils across primary and secondary age groups within a specialist educational setting.

You’ll play an important role in helping pupils feel settled and supported at school, access their learning and develop the skills they need to become more independent.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities
  • Supporting personalised learning programmes and individual targets
  • Encouraging communication, independence and social development
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Helping pupils manage transitions and changes to their daily routine
  • Adapting activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Encouraging pupils to participate in school activities
  • Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Working closely with teachers and wider support staff

You may work with pupils with a range of SEN and ALN needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD and SLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Sensory processing needs
  • Physical and complex learning needs

Who We're Looking For

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with children and young people and wants to develop their experience within SEN, ALN and specialist education.

You don’t necessarily need previous experience in a school. We’re also interested in candidates with transferable experience from care, residential support, youth work, sports coaching, psychology, health or social care.

Previous SEN or ALN experience is beneficial but not essential. We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Caring, patient and approachable
  • Confident supporting children and young people
  • Able to build positive and professional relationships
  • Calm and consistent when supporting challenging behaviour
  • Understanding of different learning and communication needs
  • Positive and encouraging in their approach
  • Reliable and committed to working as part of a team
  • Keen to develop their career within specialist education

A CACHE Level 2, CACHE Level 3 or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.

What You'll Receive

  • £92.56 – £100.56 per day
  • Full-time, long-term position
  • Urgent start
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Specialist school setting in Caerphilly
  • Dedicated support from an experienced education consultant
  • Free CPD and specialist SEN training
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Pension and employee benefits
  • Opportunities for longer-term career progression within education
