Vision for Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive primary school in Blackpool, Lancashire from as soon as possible in October 2026. This rewarding Teaching Assistant role in Blackpool, Lancashire is for the full 2026/27 academic year, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position in 2027 for the right candidate.

The Role

This Teaching Assistant position in Blackpool, Lancashire will involve supporting learning within a Year 1 classroom, delivering engaging continuous provision sessions that promote children's independence, curiosity and development across the curriculum.

Working closely with the class teacher, you will help create a stimulating and nurturing learning environment where pupils can explore, investigate and apply their learning through carefully planned provision areas. You will support children's communication, language, social development and early literacy and numeracy skills through play-based and child-led learning opportunities.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in observing and interacting with pupils during continuous provision, extending their learning through skilled questioning and targeted support. You will also provide additional support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping to promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and successful engagement in learning activities.

The successful Teaching Assistant will:

• Support teaching and learning within a Year 1 classroom.
• Deliver and facilitate high-quality continuous provision sessions both indoors and outdoors.
• Encourage independent learning, problem-solving and creativity through play-based activities.
• Observe children's learning and provide feedback to the class teacher.
• Work with individuals and small groups to support progress across the curriculum.
• Support pupils with SEMH needs using positive behaviour management strategies.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Help create an inclusive, engaging and nurturing learning environment.

Previous experience supporting continuous provision, EYFS or Key Stage 1 learners is highly desirable for this role.

Requirements

To be considered for the Teaching Assistant role in Blackpool, Lancashire, you will:

• Have previous experience supporting children within a primary school setting.
• Have experience working within EYFS, Key Stage 1 or continuous provision environments.
• Have an understanding of child development and the benefits of play-based learning.
• Have experience supporting or working with pupils with SEMH needs.
• Be patient, adaptable and committed to helping every child succeed.
• Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
