About the role

Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN Schools)

Walsall | Flexible Supply Work | 2026 Start

Graduating this year and looking to start a rewarding career in education?

If you're finishing university this summer (or have recently graduated) and are passionate about supporting children and young people, this could be the perfect opportunity to gain valuable school experience while building a career in education.

Vision for Education is looking for enthusiastic and caring graduates to join our SEN Teaching Assistant supply team, supporting specialist primary and secondary schools across Walsall from October 2026.

As a leading education recruitment agency, we provide staff to SEND schools on a day-to-day basis. You'll initially join our supply register, offering flexible work while gaining hands-on classroom experience, with regular opportunities to move into long-term, part-time or full-time school placements.

This role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social work or other child-focused professions.

The Role

You'll support children and young people with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Moderate to Profound Learning Difficulties (MLD, SLD & PMLD)
  • Complex physical disabilities

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups
  • Helping children access learning and develop confidence
  • Supporting communication, behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Assisting with personal care where required
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals

Who We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from graduates (or those graduating this summer) studying subjects such as:

  • Psychology
  • Education Studies
  • Childhood or Early Childhood Studies
  • Special Educational Needs and Inclusion
  • Health and Social Care
  • Social Work
  • Youth and Community Work
  • Sports Coaching or Sports Science
  • Child Development
  • Counselling
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Or any other child, education or care-related degree

We're looking for graduates who are:

  • Passionate about supporting children and young people
  • Compassionate, patient and resilient
  • Eager to gain practical school experience
  • Excellent communicators with a positive attitude

Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults through placements, volunteering, coaching or part-time work is beneficial but not essential.

Why Join Vision for Education?

  • A fantastic first step into a career in education
  • Flexible work to fit around your schedule
  • Experience across a variety of specialist SEN schools
  • Opportunities to secure long-term and permanent roles
  • Ongoing SEND training and professional development

What Vision for Education Offer

  • Competitive pay rates
  • FREE training and CPD
  • Dedicated consultant support
  • Long-term and permanent opportunities
