About the role

Teaching Assistant – Full-Time

Urgent Start | Chepstow | £462.80–£502.80 per week

Working Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm | Monday–Friday

Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start Available

Vision for Education is recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant in Chepstow to support pupils within a welcoming and inclusive primary school setting.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a school that places a strong emphasis on children's happiness, wellbeing and learning, helping pupils feel safe, build confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed.

The role would suit someone who enjoys working with primary-aged children, encouraging curiosity and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. You may already have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant, or be looking to move into education from a background in care, support work, youth work or health and social care.

You'll work alongside teachers and other support staff to create positive learning experiences, helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant in Chepstow, you'll support pupils throughout the school day, helping them access the curriculum, take part in classroom activities and become more confident and independent learners.

The school promotes an inclusive approach to learning, with a focus on identifying individual needs, encouraging positive relationships and giving children opportunities to learn through practical, creative and collaborative activities.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support during lessons and learning activities

  • Supporting the class teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson preparation

  • Helping pupils develop their literacy, numeracy, communication and problem-solving skills

  • Encouraging children to participate, ask questions and develop a love of learning

  • Supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and individual learning requirements

  • Helping children develop confidence, resilience and independence

  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and respectful relationships

  • Supporting pupils who need additional help with communication, concentration or classroom routines

  • Adapting activities to help pupils access learning at their own pace

  • Encouraging teamwork, creativity and positive social interaction

  • Supporting pupils during break times, outdoor learning and wider school activities

  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals to provide consistent support

  • Helping maintain a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment

Depending on the placement, you may support pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and Special Educational Needs (SEN), including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)

  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

  • Sensory processing difficulties

  • Additional needs affecting learning, independence and social development

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is patient, approachable and genuinely enjoys helping children learn and develop.

Previous experience in a primary school or SEN setting would be beneficial, but transferable skills from care, residential support, youth work, health and social care or similar roles are also welcome.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Caring, patient and understanding

  • Confident working with primary-aged children

  • Able to build positive and trusting relationships

  • Calm and consistent when responding to challenging behaviour

  • Supportive of children with different abilities and learning needs

  • Flexible and able to adapt to different classroom situations

  • Reliable, punctual and professional

  • A positive team player who works well alongside teachers and support staff

  • Keen to encourage children's confidence, resilience and independence

  • Committed to helping pupils feel included, supported and ready to learn

A CACHE Level 2, CACHE Level 3 or equivalent qualification would be an advantage, although it isn't essential.

What You'll Receive

  • £462.80–£502.80 per week, based on five working days

  • Full-time, long-term opportunity

  • Immediate start available

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

  • Primary school placement in Chepstow

  • Support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant

  • Access to free CPD and relevant training

  • Opportunities to develop your experience in primary education, SEN and ALN

  • Pension and employee benefits

  • The opportunity to build a long-term career within education

Weekly pay is calculated using five working days at £92.56–£100.56 per day. Actual earnings may vary depending on hours worked and applicable deductions.
