About the role

Teaching Assistant – Full-Time

Urgent Start | Monmouth | £462.80–£502.80 per week

Working Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm | Monday–Friday

Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start Available

Vision for Education is looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant in Monmouth to support pupils within a primary school environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children grow in confidence, develop new skills and get the most out of their time in school.

We're looking for someone who can bring patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude into the classroom, helping pupils overcome challenges and feel more confident in their learning.

You might already have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant, or you may have developed transferable skills through care work, youth work, residential support or health and social care. Whatever your background, if you're passionate about working with children, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant in Monmouth, you'll work alongside the class teacher to support pupils with their learning, classroom activities and wider development.

You'll help create an environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, trying new things and developing their independence. Some pupils may need additional support with their learning, communication, behaviour or confidence, so being adaptable and understanding is important.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils individually and in small groups throughout the school day

  • Helping children access lessons and complete classroom activities

  • Assisting with reading, writing, numeracy and other curriculum subjects

  • Encouraging pupils to stay engaged, build confidence and develop independence

  • Supporting children who need extra help with learning or classroom routines

  • Helping promote positive behaviour and respectful relationships

  • Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation

  • Adapting learning activities to suit different abilities and needs

  • Helping prepare classroom materials and practical learning resources

  • Encouraging teamwork, creativity and participation in school activities

  • Supporting pupils during break times, lunchtimes and outdoor activities

  • Working closely with teachers and other staff to provide consistent support

  • Helping maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment

Depending on the needs of the pupils you support, you may gain experience working with children with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and Special Educational Needs (SEN), including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)

  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

  • Sensory processing difficulties

  • Additional needs affecting learning, behaviour and social development

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with children and understands the importance of providing encouragement, consistency and support.

Previous experience in a school would be helpful, but it's not essential. Experience in care, support work, youth work, childcare or health and social care can also be valuable when moving into a Teaching Assistant role.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Friendly, approachable and patient

  • Confident supporting primary-aged children

  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Calm and understanding when dealing with challenging situations

  • Comfortable supporting children with different learning abilities

  • Flexible and willing to get involved in all aspects of classroom life

  • Reliable, punctual and professional

  • A good communicator and team player

  • Enthusiastic about helping children develop new skills

  • Committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment

A CACHE Level 2, CACHE Level 3 or equivalent qualification would be beneficial, although it isn't essential.

What You'll Receive

  • £462.80–£502.80 per week, based on five working days

  • Full-time, long-term opportunity

  • Immediate start available

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

  • Primary school placement in Monmouth

  • Support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant

  • Access to free CPD and relevant training

  • Opportunities to develop your skills in primary education and ALN support

  • Pension and employee benefits

  • The opportunity to gain valuable experience and progress within education

Weekly pay is calculated using five working days at £92.56–£100.56 per day. Actual earnings may vary depending on hours worked and applicable deductions.
